Message from the Executive Director

On January 4, 2018, the Board will be moving from it's current location to 1740 W. Adams, suite 2490, Phoenix, AZ 85007 (NE corner of Adams and 18th Ave.). Our telephone numbers will remain the same.  The Board meetings will be held mainly in meeting room C which is on the first floor.  The public entrance is on the North side of the building.  Public access will be limited to the first floor after clearing security..  Applications and other paperwork can be dropped off at the first floor service window number 6.  Personal contact with staff is limited and prior appointment arrangements need to be made.

In May 2018, the Board will migrate to a eLicensing platform which means all applications, renewals and other forms will be submitted and fees paid electronically.  As eLicensing comes closer to operational, more information will be made available.

Welcome to the Board of Examiners of Nursing Care Institution Administrators and Assisted Living Facility Managers website.  The site was designed and continues to improve with consumers and licensees in mind.  The website contains a variety of information including a searchable directory of administrators and managers, forms such as applications, our laws and rules, Board meeting dates, and the members who are appointed by the Governor to serve on this Board.

Caregiver Training Changes 


Starting October 1, 2020, the Board's approved final exam for caregivers will change from a general knowledge to a medication management exam.  The candidate handbook can be found at


The curriculum has not changed and all modules must be taught. 


Training programs will now have to get verification from AHCCCS on all students that claim to have DCW training.  


Verification of DCW, CNA and LNA credentials must be recorded in the student file.

DPS fingerprinting goes paperless.  Initial and renewal of clearance card applications can now be done online and then go have your finger prints live scanned and electronically submitted.  Click to read the press release.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Board is to protect the health, welfare, and safety of Arizona citizens who seek and use the services of nursing care institution administrators and assisted living facility managers.

What We Do

The Board licenses nursing care institution administrators and certifies assisted living facility managers.  The licensing and certification process helps ensure that qualifications, competency and standards are met.  The Board investigates all complaints, and enforces the practice standards of the Administrators and Managers.  The Board approves continuing education courses to make sure quality and useful education is being taught.  The Board also sets standards and approves assisted living facility caregiver and manager training programs.
